With decades of experience as a Vancouver-based professional horn player in symphony and opera orchestras, film recordings, musicals, and the final seven years of the CBC Radio Orchestra playing second horn, Steve Denroche has been playing on period-style instruments since 2009.
That summer he and his wife, Nancy DiNovo, went to London and took in a number of Proms concerts. The concerts they enjoyed most were the early music productions. While visiting Tony Halstead that summer to look at a modern horn, Steve came home with a hand horn and a set of crooks. Much to his delight, Steve played his first Early Music Vancouver concert the following year and has since had the very good fortune to play baroque and classical horn alongside Andrew Clark in Vancouver, Victoria, and Seattle, as well as the Denton, TX International Horn Society symposium.
