Kyla Fradette – Soprano

Born and raised in Calgary AB, Kyla Fradette is a soprano currently studying under Benjamin Butterfield at the University of Victoria (UVic) and will complete her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance in 2021.

Kyla began singing at the age of four in the Calgary Youth Choir. Since moving to Victoria in 2017, Kyla has performed with several ensembles including the UVic Chamber Choir, UVic Voice Ensemble, and the St. John’s Church Choir, featuring as a soloist in several performances, most recently co-performing Galatea in the UVic Voice Ensemble’s production of Acis and Galatea.

This summer Kyla participated in the Orford Musique academy working under Rosemarie Landry, Benjamin Butterfield, and Francis Perron in a French and German art song intensive program.  Kyla is also a member of the Pacific Opera Victoria (POV) Chorus and has performed in POV’s productions of Fidelio (2018), La Traviata (2019), and Countess Maritza (2019). 

In POV’s most recent production of Il Trittico (2019), Kyla was featured as both a midinette and a Lay Sister, and will be singing in the Carmen chorus in the spring of 2020.
